The South Australian Labor Party is beginning its election campaign under the crushing weight of their significant failings and broken promises.

In the lead up to the 2022 state election, Peter Malinauskas stood up at his party’s campaign launch and arrogantly proclaimed he would “fix the ramping crisis”.

Four years later, we have just endured 43 months of the worst ramping on record and our hospitals are so overcrowded that a grandmother died in the corridor of the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The broken promise is one of many endured by South Australians under a Malinauskas Government that continues to prioritise image and spin over practical solutions for our State.

Ramping

Labor promised to  “fix the ramping crisis”. 1, 2

But under Labor, South Australians have spent 171,313 hours on the ramp since 2022 – or the equivalent of over 19 years.

That’s almost 100,000 hours more than under the former Liberal Government.

And 43 of the worst months of ramping in our state’s history.

In 2025 alone, South Australians endured 52,449 hours of ramping.

Our health system is in crisis under Labor.

Housing

Labor said nothing is more fundamentally important to a quality life than a safe, affordable home. 3

But under Labor, Adelaide is the sixth least affordable capital city in the world to buy a home, and the second least affordable in Australia. 4

The median house price in Adelaide is over $1 million, bringing a stamp duty bill of over $50,000. 5

Yet Labor won’t remove stamp duty on existing homes for first home buyers. 6

Instead, first home buyers are waiting up to 15 months to move into a newly built home under Labor. 7

Now Labor wants to increase the cost of building a new home through their proposed building regulations. 8

Our housing is in crisis under Labor.

Power

Labor promised to lower electricity prices for business and industry in South Australia. 10

But under Labor, small business power bills have increased by $1,425.

While household power prices have increased $776, or an increase of 43%.

South Australians are paying the highest power prices on record.

And to add insult to injury, Labor quietly cut the low-cost rebates on Christmas Eve hurting pensioners.11

Power prices are spiralling under Labor.

Debt

Labor has failed on debt.

But under Labor, state debt is expected to peak at $48.7 billion. 12

That means every child born in 2030 will carry close to $25,000 in debt.

This will result in nearly $6.7 million in interest paid per day. 13

With a daily interest bill that equals the annual salary of 56 police officers 14 , 65 teachers 15 , or 64 nurses 16.

State debt is crushing South Australia under Labor.

Voice and Reparations

Labor said they would enact Voice, Treaty and Truth.

But they ignored the will of the Australian people at the Federal Voice referendum and legislated a flawed State Voice. 18

And did not rule out secret plans to spend South Australian money on treaty and reparations. 19

While abolishing the bi-partisan Parliamentary Aboriginal Lands Committee. 20

Reparation payments are possible under Labor.

Cost of Living

Labor said they “understand the cost-of-living challenges facing many South Australians”. 21

But they introduced a new increase on SA Water bills. 22

And also hit GPs with a payroll ‘tax grab’. 23

While bringing in record revenue – driven by stamp duty, payroll tax, fees and charges. 24

Then they criticised stamp duty exemptions on existing homes for first home buyers. 25

Cost of living is rising under Labor.

Hydrogen

Labor promised to build a hydrogen plant in Whyalla.

But Labor abandoned this promise after committing nearly $500 million in spending. 26

$500 million is more than four times what the most recent State Budget promised in cost-of-living relief. 27

And nearly seven times more than the government committed to drought assistance in their recent State Budget. 28

While refusing to answer if their Hydrogen Power Plant would lower a single power bill for South Australian homeowners. 29

Labor wasted taxpayers’ money on a fantasy.

Crime

Labor promised justice for victims at the last election. 30

But under Labor, youth crime matters before the courts have risen 50%. 31

Is there justice for innocent civilians when 55 offenders collectively breached their bail 4,038 times in 2025. 32

Is there justice for innocent civilians when small business theft rates have risen by 50% under Labor? 33

Labor have failed South Australia on crime.

Algal Bloom

Labor said the algal bloom wasn’t toxic to humans. 34

Except the Department for Environment and Water says it is. 35

The toxic algal bloom is also basically “non-existent”, according to Peter Malinauskas. 36

It does exist for the Adelaide businesses that closed because of the impact of the bloom. 37

And the small businesses that lost more than $100,000 due to the bloom. 38

When SA businesses need algal bloom help, Labor is absent.

Drought

Labor said they are supporting farmers during the drought. 39

But refused persistent calls from farmers for concessional loans, waiting until just before the upcoming election to make this commitment. 40

Instead, they told farmers to kill their livestock 41, and offered subsidies for tagging livestock that should be killed. 42

The Liberals said it wasn’t enough – then Peter Malinauskas said they were just playing politics. 43

Farmers have been let down by Labor.
